Davy and Di are here for the weekend. Passing through after a month or so travelling through Europe.
We planned to take them around Sharjah and Dubai yesterday, but it rained. It rains here two or three times a year. When it rains it floods. Yesterday was no exception. Roads were closed with flooding. We stayed close to home.
Today we headed to the House of Wisdom at Sharjah University.
I love libraries, and the House of Wisdom is one of the most beautiful libraries I have seen.

We look around, grab some coffee and spend a lazy morning amongst the books.
We head to Mleiha Archaeological Centre for lunch. It is a pretty cool place, good food, and there are horses.
It is as much the drive we wanted to take as the food. Once you are out of the city, the desert rolls out before you. Endless dunes that look like ocean waves. All shades of red. The desert is stunning, foriegn landscape and I can’t get enough of it. The sand is so fine it is like powder. Soft dust.
Like all things of natural beauty, it reminds you of your insignificance.

How can you not love a horse. Gentle. Noble. Beautiful.
Shell is feeling under the weather so we head home for a nap.
I might give dinner a miss.
No wine tonight. Maybe we are both not ourselves.

Such a beautiful day for me – spending time with you both. The desert, library, magnificent school and horses are burned into my memory. Dubai weather so surprising after my last two visits – some of the most beautiful weather I have experienced anywhere. The excitement of the rain and flooding a bonus!! It was such a novelty to see families picnicking on the desert sands as we would picnic in Australia in a green field. Thank you both for a lovely visit. I hope there is some jigsaw for me to help with next time💕
