“He remains as calm at the end
as at the beginning.”– Lao Tzu
I can’t remember the last holiday Sunday that didn’t begin with a shadow of dread for Monday.
Sleep in. Sunday means no gym.
Breakfast and prepare the recycling.
South Korea is serious about recycling. Every Wednesday afternoon and Sunday morning we bring our sorted goods to the appropriate area.
Another thing Korea does well is skin care. Shell has siezed on this fact and started a collection of face products. Salmon DNA, snail slime, oatmeal, spikes… the list goes on. Her face is neither slimy or heading up river to spawn, but she is certainly looking young and smooth.
“Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.”
– Franz Kafka
I cook lunches for next week, and we go to coffee.
On the way home, we stop to get some dumplings for lunch. If there is a scene that captures East Asia, it is a cool autumn morning with steam pouring out from a dumpling vendor.

We try and watch a movie, both are terrible.
The weather has changed. Black storm clouds are rolling in and the temperature is dropping.
I hope it pours down. I love the rain.
“The rain is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh upon the glass and listen for reply.”
– D.H Lawrence
I read.
Shell puts some music on and the rain arrives. The afternoon turns to evening. Our first break in South Korea is done. There is a busy term ahead, but I don’t mind.
I like it here. It feels like home.
For now.
