Not much on today. A visit to the surgeon to find out what the next steps for Shell’s finger will be.
Walk to Salavator Mundi International Hospital. Spring is here. The temperature is already in the mid-teens. It is nice to be in the sun wearing only a t-shirt. Obviously, I am wearing pants as well.
“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits. People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.” ― Ernest Hemingway
In early with Dr. Piperno. The bandages come off and the wound looks great. To the untrained eye, the incision is excellent. The results from the lab are back. Dr. Piperno has a colleague in the field, suggested at least six swabs for testing. He sent away six and had each tested twice, all negative. It looks like he removed all the infection.
We meet the Physio Therapist tomorrow to pick up a new splint and again next Thursday for the first rehabilitation session. We don’t see Dr. Piperno for three weeks. Italy for three more weeks. Tough gig.
We grab some cheap pasta for lunch. Head home and make some plans to get out of Rome for a week until the rehab starts. We decide to head east and south. Starting on the coast somewhere in Abruzzo and finishing around Lecce. We shall see. Plans change.
“If the path be beautiful, let us not ask where it leads.” ― Anatole France
Grab an Aperol Spritz at the tea shop while the washing is washing. I like a tea shop that serves alcohol. Start a new book. The Beach by Alex Garland. I enjoyed the movie. I am not sure why I chose this book. It is a departure from my usual choices.
Head home, cook some pasta for dinner. No wine tonight.
