“Though the doctors treated him, let his blood, and gave him medications to drink, he nevertheless recovered.”
Leo Tolstoy
Friday
A trip to Trieste to find an opthalmologist.
Croatia – Slovenia – Italy in the space of 30 minutes.
It is easier to find an ophthalmologist in Trieste than it is to find a park. It took all day to find Dr. Guilio Pastori.
At first, he was reluctant to see me. There was no appointment, just some random blow-in, but I think the fact that Shell was close to tears convinced him to relent and give my eye the once-over.
Episcleritis.
The relief from Shell when he wrote ‘not serious’ was physical.
With our thanks to Dr. Pastori and worry no longer burdening the holiday, we headed for a much-needed Aperol Spritz.
Back to Grožnjan and we relax for the afternoon.
Last night’s meal at Konoba Rino was such a triumph we headed back there for another meal. A sort of late lunch, very early dinner scenario.
The ox is substituted for the mushrooms and the rest is the same.
Back to our apartment.
I don’t want to leave.
“And the danger is that in this move toward new horizons and far directions, that I may lose what I have now, and not find anything except loneliness.”
Sylvia Plath
