“I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Sunday
A good night of sleep.
My eye is still red and appears no better even though it is relatively painless.
If there is no improvement tomorrow I will try and track down another GP or if I can, an ophthalmologist.
Back to Zërgë Coffeeshop for breakfast and coffee.
We now have Leanda on the eye situation. She never lets us down when we have ailments of any sort.
A taxi to the airport to pick up the auto and we are on the road to Graz.
A five hour run with a with a pit stop at a service station for some snacks.
As we arrive in Graz it begins to snow.
Our apartments are perfect. More art gallery than accommodation, the rooms are very cool.
We head down for some wine at the bar before finding some food for dinner.
Four white wines from the region –
2024 Weignut Krispel Welschriesling (Styria, Austria)
2023 Weignut Rebenhof Welschriesling (Styria, Austria)
2023 Weingut Neumeister Gelber Muskateller (Styria, Austria)
2023 Lackner Tinnacher Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc (Styria, Austria)
Nothing is appetizing at the Christmas markets so we grab some pizza and a cheap bottle of house wine for dinner.
We stroll home and the temperature has dropped below zero.
Both of us are tired and it is only 7.00 pm.
Home. Bed.
Tomorrow we head into the mountains to our cabin.
“The mountains are calling and I must go.”
John Muir
This came through from the Leanda’s ophthalmologist contact –
Gosh your poor brother! That definitely looks like conjunctivitis with the conjunctival oedema . Is the eye watery and gritty and sticky? He hasn’t got any known allergies does he? Cos sometimes a hypersensitivity can look like this: even sensitivity to drops or preservatives to drops. Luckily his cornea looks clear.s
To be honest it doesn’t look bacterial at all so no point using antibiotics.
I had a similar thing recently and I used cortisone drops and Manuka eye drops which has natural antiviral and anti inflammatory effects. It stings a lot helped clear it quicker.
If he can get his hands on Manuka drops (optimel) then using what 2-3 times a day with preservative free lubricants is a good idea. If it’s also itchy then use antihistamine.
If more painful the topical NSAIDs 2-3 times a day is also good. Some pharmacies may be able to gift him some of the above. Otherwise Optom is best option.
The sympathy at the start is the hghlight.
