“I love sleep. My life has the tendency to fall apart when I’m awake, you know?”
Ernest Hemingway
Almost 11 hours of sleep and I feel much better.
The sun coming through the open window, birds chirping, the breeze on my face, but it was the church bells that woke me.
We lay in bed and read. I make some coffee.
Breakfast was simple after yesterday’s struggles.

It is cloudy, and there is a chill wind. We sit downstairs with the doors open and read. You need socks, a jumper, and a blanket; the breeze is so brisk.
I have a winery visit planned. About 20 minute’s drive and on the way to Ročka Konoba.
Tomaz Wines. Some good vineyards and some interesting winemaking approaches.

We decide on the seven wine tasting. The highlights were the barrel aged Malvasia off the 75 year old vineyard and an interesting sparkling rosé.

There is no problem getting a table at Ročka Konoba. We order the usual pasta, pancetta with ricotta, and pulled pork, both smothered in truffles. A small carafe of house red and we are set for the afternoon.

A lazy drive home and I am already thinking about dinner.
I make some pasta with a local cured meat and the leftover pancetta.
I don’t feel like any more wine for today.
We are in bed reading by 5.20 pm.
The windows are open in the loft and it is raining outside.
“Sleep’s what we need. It produces an emptiness in us into which sooner or later energies flow.”
John Cage
